The Municipality Žepče commissioned a local company with a project feasibility study, including a geological/geomechanical assessment. The company assessed the feasibility of the project with the new water reservoir at the chosen location and sub-contracted the geomechanical assessment to a specialized firm. The findings were presented in the two respective reports. The reports give the project the green light, both in terms of feasibility and of geological safety of the location. The new reservoir is in a good location so that fresh water can be channeled to the reservoir without difficulty and that the reservoir can be connected to the existing water supply system of Balačići village. To a large part the water supply system of the village stayed intact, which will supply the roughly 700 people of the village with clean water.

In a next step Caritas Switzerland will issue a public call for the technical project documentation for the water reservoir and its connection to the existing water supply grid. After the best company for the job is identified, a contract will be signed with them and the project documentation will be produced. This will provide the basis for the further steps such as finding a construction company and building the reservoir.

The feasibility study and the geomechanical assessment provide the necessary reassurance that the project can be executed as planned
